Explosions Rock US, Israeli Embassies in Uzbekistan
Jul 30, 2004
A series of explosions at the U.S. and Israeli embassies and the prosecutor's office in the Uzbek capital, Tashkent, has killed at least two people and wounded at least five others.
The Interfax news agency quotes embassy officials as saying suicide bombers set off the blasts Friday. The two dead are reported to be Uzbek citizens.
The attacks come as 15 suspects stand trial this week for a wave of violence in Uzbekistan earlier this year that killed at least 47 people.
